Greetings!

Fall has arrived in Sonoita. When we wrote you last we were about to begin a trip to our granddaughter Rebecca's wedding, bracketed by two photographic excursions. Before leaving, we were forced to change our planned itinerary owing to fire-caused road closures in Yosemite. We thought this would provide more time in Death Valley enabling our gathering a few more panoramas for Karen's new ebook. However, the system that delivered Biblical level rains to Boulder, Colorado also affected Death Valley: all but one of the major roads in the Valley were closed by mud and rock slides. No Aguereberry Point or Charcoal Kilns this trip! Disappointed, but hardly discouraged we headed west on CA 190, and as we went over the pass above Panamint Valley we discovered that the normally dry Panamint Lake was covered with water reflecting the surrounding mountains. Climbing out of the Valley, we stopped at Father Crowley's Vista, where Karen was able to add another panorama to her 'bucket list'. From here we went on to the coast with a stop at Point Lobos for a couple of hours before going on to the wedding site above Santa Cruz.

Rebecca (and husband Jamie's) wedding celebration brought forth two days of perfect weather and time to visit with family. Ironically, we did not take any pictures, though the iPads, iPhones, and cameras among the 120 guests were always busy.

After the wedding, we headed eastward, stopping in Austin, NV before reaching Green River, UT where we spent the next several days exploring the upper San Rafael Swell. The Colorado storms also inundated many normally passable roads, precluding our reaching a number of places high on our list. From Green River, we headed southward to Hanksville where the rains had also hit, limiting our options here as well. We managed to find enough to occupy every day and were able to explore enough to compile a 'must do' list for our next excursion. We managed to leave before the Government shutdown closed Capitol Reef and surrounding lands.
