Greetings!

Well, we made it back from China, albeit with one delayed flight. While we enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts in Taipei and Lishui, we truly cherished the pizza at the California Pizza Kitchen and Starbucks frapachinos at LAX before catching the flight to Tucson. We are still trying to readjust our biorhythms and are looking forward to our first good sleep.

Book signings in Tempe, Tucson & Patagonia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Earth Forms Book Cover On Thursday, December 10, Steve will use a slideshow to illustrate the evolution of his photographic vision, and then sign copies of Earth Forms at Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 S McClintock Drive, in Tempe from 7 - 9 pm.
On Saturday, December 12, he will make a similar presentation at Tohono Chul Park, 7366 N Paseo Del Norte in Tucson at 10 am.
Following the event in Tucson, Steve will be at Mariposa Books in Patagonia from 3 -5pm to sign books. Copies of Earth Forms as well as his previous books, Sonoita Plain with Jane & Carl Bock, Tseyi: Reflections on Canyon de Chelly with Laura Tohe, Secrets from the Center of the World with Joy Harjo, and Otero Mesa with Gregory McNamee as well as his new book with Douglas Isbell, Observatories of the Southwest, will be available. Karen will also attend. They both will be happy to discuss their photography and their trip to China.
If you are unable to attend either of these book signings, we would like to remind you that you may obtain a signed copy of Earth Forms directly from us. Please visit the book website to see examples of its content. If you would like to purchase a copy, just reply to this email and we will be happy to make arrangements with you. We also offer a combination of a signed book with a signed print (8" x 8") of one of the images in the book, for $90. Of course, the book is also available from Amazon.com.
Golden Canyon The show at Verve Gallery in Santa Fe received an excellent reception at the opening last month; more than 200 people braved chill, drizzly weather. Talks by Steve, and artists Don Kirby of Santa Fe and Matilda Essig of Elgin, AZ were well attended and warmly received.
Locally, Steve has several photographs in the Canyons of the Southwest exhibit at Tohono Chul Park. Karen has an image in the Member's Juried Exhibit at the Tubac Center for the Arts.
The China Trip
Welcome Photo grahers
As noted above, we returned from our trip to China on Friday night, and have just transferred images from the trip to our computers. Once we have processed and sorted our images, we will place albums online so that you will be able to share our visual impression.
Quick takes: New factories and houses are going up everywhere. The highways are new, and impressively constructed. The drivers are skilled but with a reckless streak matched only in Montreal and Mexico City.
The photo festival (a main reason for our visit) was a major topic of coverage for the local papers, with articles and photographs in the paper every day. The opening ceremony for the festival matched the Olympic opening in extravagance and pyrotechnics. The pace of events was hectic, without as much time as we would have liked for interchange with the Chinese photographers. Overall: stimulating, exciting, exhausting!
